Farrell Reflects on Saturday's Sale Win
Saracens demonstrated excellent attacking rugby in Saturday’s five try win over Sale, but have a long way to go in their pursuit of perfection, according to man of the match Owen Farrell.
Farrell’s perfect form from the tee, as well as tries from Ben Spencer (x2), Liam Williams, Vincent Koch, and Nathan Earle; helped Sarries to the 41-13 win.
Though Farrell noted room for improvement after the match.
He said: “When you are in the high scoring games and you seem to be attacking well - there is no excuse - but people normally do start focusing on that attacking side.
“We need to try and make sure that we get our full game on to the pitch next week.”
Lapses in defence allowed two late tries from Sale, and Saracens did well to not concede more throughout the game.
Farrell added: “There was some really good physicality that we asked for during the week, so that was pleasing. I think we let our foot off a little bit at times which probably cost us.
“It just leaves us feeling that there is a little bit of work to do, which might even be a good thing.”
The comment was indicative of the high standard Farrell sets for himself and the team, and the England fly-half went on to discuss his relentless pursuit of perfection.
He said: “We are nowhere near it right now, and you wouldn’t hope to be there yet at this time of the year.
“You hope to be striving towards it and I think that’s the key. I don’t think you ever get there but you hope to be.”
Farrell and Saracens now turn their attention to Worcester Warriors. They travel to Sixways Stadium on Friday night (kick-off 19H45) for round-5 of the Premiership season.
