Farrell's boot secures England win over Springboks
England’s tour of South Africa ended with victory on Saturday courtesy of Owen Farrell’s boot.
The Saracens fly-half, who captained his country in all three Tests, kicked 20 points as Eddie Jones’ side ran out 25-10 winners over the Springboks.
Veteran hooker Schalk Brits made his return in green and gold from the bench, going up against his former team-mate Jamie George.
While England may have lost 2-1 in games, there were a lot of positives to take from a Saracens perspective.
Ten of the Wolfpack were called up by Jones with Nick Isiekwe earning a first start, Ben Spencer winning his first cap and Mako Vunipola receiving his 50th.
George started every game as did Maro Itoje who opened his England account with a try in Johannesburg; Farrell, who also crossed in Joburg, accumulated 38 points in total.
Ben Earl, Nathan Earle and Alex Lozowski didn’t get the opportunity to wear the red rose on a game day but the experience from the tour will have helped their development going forward.
One bit of bad news was Billy Vunipola returning early after the re-fracturing his arm.
The tourists will begin pre-season training at the end of July.
