Five Saracens Players Named in England Six Nations Opener
England boss Eddie Jones has named five Saracens players in his 23 that will travel to Rome to take on Italy this Sunday afternoon.
Owen Farrell starts at inside-centre, he will play outside of George Ford, who gets the nod at fly-half. Maro Itoje makes a start alongside Joe Launchbury in the second row as he gains his 15th cap. Elsewhere, Mako Vunipola starts in the front row.
George Kruis and Jamie George will also make their 22nd and 21st England appearances respectively should they be called from the bench to play.
All five of those players have been a part of England's previous two Six Nations campaigns, in which England have won the title in back-to-back years, including a Grand-Slam in 2016.
Academy graduates Nathan Earle and Nick Isiekwe aren't in the 23 for this weekend's game but remain firmly in contention having been a part of the training camp squads as well as the full Six Nations squad. Alex Lozowski returns to Saracens to make the bench for this weekend's clash with Exeter at Sandy Park.
England's first game is against Italy with the game at the Stadio Olimpico (K.O. 3pm), elsewhere Wales take on Scotland who have named Sean Maitland on the bench.
The tournament will take place across five rounds with England's final game coming at home to Ireland on Saturday March 17.
