Gallagher's role made easier by players around him
Matt Gallagher capped off his first Premiership start for two seasons with his first try in the competition.
The 21-year-old earned his bow following a commanding display in the Premiership Rugby Shield five days earlier and didn’t disappoint.
The absence of wingers David Strettle and Sean Maitland opened the door for Gallagher and he seized his chance, crossing for a try inside five minutes.
Judging his performance Gallagher looked nerveless as he picked up the man of the match award but he admits he was ‘pretty nervous’ before kick-off.
He said: “I didn’t play last season and played a couple of times the season before; all the nerves came back but I’m just happy the boys managed to get the result.
“It makes it a lot easier having a lot of calm heads out there. For me I just had to do my role and they made it a lot easier for me.
“I feel like I had a decent pre-season and I just want to hit the ground running and hopefully get some more chances.”
