George Kruis: "We've Got So Much More To Give"
Saracens’ George Kruis says that Sunday evening’s performance in Clermont could prove to be a turning point in the season.
Sarries were in control for large parts of the game in a stadium where Clermont haven’t lost in Europe for over eight years and gained a creditable bonus-point after a 24-21 defeat as they head into the final two Pool 2 games against Ospreys and Northampton Saints.
After the game, Kruis explained the value of the performance and what it means heading into the rest of the season, saying:
“This performance was a turning point but only if we keep our heads in it and back up what we’ve talked about; for us it’s a positive that we’ve come out and shown each other just what it means to us.
“The other positive is as we’ve said in the dressing room afterwards that we’ve got so much more to give.
“We’ve talked a lot and that’s allowed us to progress and move forward, part of being a successful team is that you have ups and downs but we want to make every game a special one like today and we’ll keep building for next week.”
Kruis also spoke of how fortunate Saracens are to have such an honest group of players and how performances like the one on Sunday prove just how much it means to the group.
The 27-year-old said: “This week we had some pretty big, open and honest conversations; I think we’re lucky as a club to be able to be that honest with each other, this performance came off the back of that and showed us how much we mean to each other.
“I know we didn’t win but we put in a performance we’re proud of against a team that is playing very well at the moment.”
