George relishing Exeter battle
Jamie George is relishing a battle with Exeter Chiefs’ forwards in Saturday’s Aviva Premiership final.
The Devon outfit are renowned for their physicality and reached Twickenham with a dominant display against Newcastle Falcons.
Saracens also impressed, with the pack imposing themselves on Wasps in the 57-33 semi-final win at Allianz Park.
“We’re very aware Exeter have a well drilled pack, a very good scrum, maul and we’re right at the front of that,” George said.
“We need to make sure we do our jobs right. The big part of the win at the weekend was the way the forwards imprinted themselves on the game; we were dominant in the scrum, we didn’t give them anything in terms of maul and we’re looking to do the same thing this weekend because we know Exeter can be very dominant in that area.
“It’ll be a really good test for us and we’re really looking forward to it.”
Exeter defeated Sarries in last season’s play-offs before being crowned champions at HQ.
Since then, the Men in Black have patiently waited for their chance to meet Rob Baxter’s side on the big stage and George can’t wait for it.
“We’re just excited to get out there and do it now,” he said.
“We’ve wanted to have a shot at Exeter in a big game since last season so it’s nice to be given that opportunity. It’s two good teams going at it and it’s going to be a good one.
“We have to make sure we’re focused on bringing the best performance, the best version of Saracens out on the field and if we do that from the start we’ll be there or thereabouts come the end.”
