I covered about 12 metres! - Williams
Liam Williams returned to action with bang, grabbing three tries as Saracens overcame a stubborn Bristol Bears side at Allianz Park.
The 27-year-old missed the season opener at Newcastle Falcons due to a groin injury and came off the bench to help Sarries to victory following a difficult first period against Pat Lam's side.
The visitors went into half-time with an 18-13 lead but when George Smith was dismissed early in the second half, the Men in Black seized control scoring 31 points.
Just under half of those were from Welshman Williams who was introduced on 52 minutes, dotting down with his first touch.
His second try came at the end of a flowing move before he completed his hat-trick in the closing stages, claiming Owen Farrell’s cross kick expertly to trot in unopposed.
“I’ve got a bit off stick off the boys – three tries and I think I covered about 12 metres!” the British and Irish Lion joked.
“To score three tries is good, but it was good from the boys who were doing the work inside me to put me over in the corner.”
“It’s nice as it was my first game back so to get half an hour and come away with three tries is good, and as long as I can help the team out I’m happy.
“It’s nice to be back out there with the lads and we’re looking forward to next week now.”
Next up at Allianz Park for Mark McCall’s men is Gloucester on Sunday 23rd September. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased at www.saracens.com/tickets.
