"I thought we were really professional in tough conditions" says McCall
Speaking after his team overcame Sale Sharks 50-3 Mark McCall paid tribute to his team’s “professional” performance this evening.
“Because of the conditions it was hugely important that we did the fundamental things really well today” he said.
“Our set piece was going to be important, the penalty count was going to be important and I thought we were really professional in tough conditions.” he added.
In a display where the Saracens attack was firing on all cylinders McCall also paid tribute to his team’s discipline and the Saracens set piece. ”Our maul was good, our scrum as good” he said. “We defended well [and] after a spell in the first 15 minutes where we gave away three penalties we didn’t give a penalties away for a long time."
Saracens were bolstered today by the return of a number of players from international duty but the Men in Black have also added Will Skelton to their ranks in recent weeks and McCall also had a word for his debutant today who he says has settled in “brilliantly”. “He’s a wonderful guy” added McCall. “He’s really bright and intelligent, picks things up and I thought he made a good contribution today”
