Impala Saracens get back to winning ways with win over Mean Machine RFC.
Impala Saracens got back to winning ways with a 46-6 win over Mean Machine RFC.
Fred Ollows’ charges had to wait until the 12th minute to break open Machine defence through Paul Mutsami. Fullback George Okowa missed the conversion but went ahead to convert Tyson Okoth’s try which came from a Machine punting error in the 22nd minute. Handling errors from Impala and solid defence from Mean Machine meant however that Impala were unable to extend their lead in the remainder of the half.

The second half saw Mean Machine struggle defensively. Leon Adongo’s 42nd minute try neatly converted by Okowa signalled the beginning of the try fest.
3 minutes later, Adongo collected his brace after pocketing offload from lock Simon Muniafu who razed 50 metres of the turf only to encounter contact 10 metres away from the whitewash.
Impala’s forwards, who had now found their groove, opened up Machine defence through Paul Mutsami. His second try, scored from the maul, but not successfully converted by Mohammed Omollo, stretched the Gazelle’s lead by 29 points.
Lock Kerre Erick would sneak over the line behind the maul in the 62nd minute. Omollo failed to convert his second attempt at finding the posts. Five minutes later and Impala were in again when Duncan Ekazi came off the bench to score.
Another try came shortly after when winger Derrick Mayar dotted in the corner at the 67th minute, this time Omollo's conversion found the target from a drop kick rather than the kicking tee.
Mean Machine’s Erick Muthama took charge of the remainder 10 minutes, capitalizing on Impala’s indiscipline in contact to boot over two penalties. One on the 70th minute, another on the 74th minute, but 6 minutes were too short for a complete Machine resurgence.
