In Focus: Alex Lozowski looking to make more Champions Cup memories
After signing a new two-year contract extension with Saracens, fly-half Alex Lozowski is looking to kick on and make more waves in the Champions Cup.
Lozowski, 24, put pen to paper to a new deal that will keep him in North London through to 2020, and couldn’t help but reflect on the memories he has packed into his time with Saracens since joining from Wasps in 2016.
He said: “Obviously, winning the European Cup is a big memory - up in Edinburgh at Murrayfield - it was a really special day. I think that has to be the main one. Then just enjoying every day coming to training, there’s never a dull moment amongst the boys, it’s great fun.”
He came off the bench in Saracens opening round 13-57 dismantling of Northampton Saints, and is looking forward to the challenges of the competition.
On Saturday, Saracens welcome Welsh giants Ospreys to Allianz Park, and Lozowski is eager to put in the work to help take control of Pool 2 of the competition.
He said: “It’s a competition that we know is really tough. So, I suppose now it’s about backing it up this weekend against Ospreys. They are a very strong team, they’ve got some quality individual players who we are going to have to be aware of. I think everyone’s just excited about getting back at home, in front of our home fans, and hopefully putting ourselves in a really strong position in the group.”
Limited tickets are still available for Saracens Champions Cup return to Allianz Park. And if you can’t make it to the game, Saracens vs Ospreys will be shown live on BT Sport 2 (kick-off 19H45)!
