International Round-Up: Packer, George and Kruis score for England
Seven Saracens Women were in action on the international stage at the weekend in Round Four of the 2019 Women’s Six Nations.
Vicky Fleetwood and Marlie Packer both crossed the whitewash in England Women’s 55-0 win over Italy in front of a record crowd at Sandy Park in Exeter.
This was Packer’s second try of the tournament as she followed up Sarah Hunter’s break off the back of a scrum to crash over in the corner.
Fleetwood made her return to the Six Nations off the bench as she powered over under the posts for the final try of the match.
Zoe Harrison and Sarah McKenna also played key roles in Jess Breach’s two tries with the former converting the first from wide on the right-hand side.
Hannah Botterman and Poppy Cleall both made big contributions off the bench with some powerful carrying as England remained on course for the Grand Slam.
They will take on Scotland this weekend at Twickenham Stadium and could face Saracens teammate Jodie Rettie.
Rettie came off the bench and played over 20 minutes in the backrow as Scotland lost 17-15 to Wales at Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow. The Welsh scoring a converted try after the 80th minute to seal victory.
England's Men also tasted victory against Italy with Jamie George and George Kruis grabbing tries.
Hooker George went over at the back of a maul while Kruis charged down an Italian box kick before gathering to dot down. The lock's second block of the afternoon led to a try for Wasps' Brad Shields.
Captain Owen Farrell kicked ... points, while Billy Vunipola was destructive as ever.
Liam Williams' Wales won in Scotland to set up a Grand Slam opportunity against Ireland; the full-back left the field through injury.
Elsewhere, Joel Kpoku and Manu Vunipola featured in England Under-20s' win over Italy Under-20s on Friday night.
