Isiekwe excited for Saturday Night Lights
Nick Isiekwe is relishing the prospect of facing Harlequins under the lights on Saturday evening in round six of the Gallagher Premiership.
Saracens take on their London rivals at The Stoop at the later time of 19H30, with NBC broadcasting the match live in the US (14H30 EST).
The Men in Black have won all five of their league games this term but Isiekwe says the squad remain focused ahead of another difficult contest.
He said: “It’s been a good start to the season and we’re pleased with how things have gone for us so far but we’re not getting ahead of ourselves.
“We’re only five games in and we still have a lot we want to work on as a group. Quins are always tough opponents, especially at The Stoop, and we know it’s going to be a battle.
“The fact that it’s a London derby, under the lights on a Saturday night is really exciting and I can’t wait to get out there.”
England international Isiekwe has, similarly to last season, rotated from lock to blindside flanker in the opening block of the 2018/19 campaign.
Competing for a role in the matchday 23 with the likes of Maro Itoje, Will Skelton and George Kruis, the 20-year-old is enjoying the experience and believes his teammates will spur him on to become better on the field.
“I’m just enjoying playing for Saracens; I don’t mind where I play as long as I can make an impact on the team.
“There’s competition for places and that’s only going to improve me as player.”
