Itoje shortlised for RPA award
Maro Itoje has been shortlisted for the Rugby Players Association LV= Young Player of the Year Award.
The Saracens and England lock forward who has enjoyed another fine season has been nominated for the award that is set to be presented at the RPA Awards dinner on Wednesday 11th May at Battersea Evolution, London.
Since making his full Sarries debut against Leicester Tigers in May 2014, Itoje has gone on to captain Saracens to LV=Cup glory and pick up a Premiership winners’ medal in Saracens’ defeat of Bath at Twickenham in last season. This season, Itoje has taken the international game by storm with a series of fine displays for England in the recent Six Nations championship.
"I'm very pleased to have been nominated for this award," said the 21-year old. "It's been such a year for me personally but I think my performances should credited to this awesome Saracens team. There are so many other quality players at each club in England and I'm thankful and taken aback that I have been chosen as a nominee amogst them."
Itoje has recently signed a contract extension with Saracens to remain at Allianz Park until 2019 .
