Last Time Out: Saracens v Northampton Saints

This weekend Saracens will go up against Northampton Saints at Twickenham for the 2017 London Double Header, K.O. 14H00. Ahead of the clash we wanted to take you back to the last time the two sides met.

The Men in Black last faced Northampton Saints in Round 20 of the Aviva Premiership, on 16th April 2017 at Stadium MK. The first half saw Saints take the lead with a 13-6 score line after Harry Mallinder’s try, with Alex Lozowski’s boot keeping Sarries in the game.

At the start of the second half Saints pulled away following tries from Dylan Hartley & Ken Pisi taking them to a 14-point lead. However, with a try in the 69th minute from Chris Ashton, and a 76th minute penalty from Lozowski Saracens closed the points gap to a 5-point deficit.

It was as the time hit 78 minutes that Saracens managed to breakaway and Marcelo Bosch crossed the whitewash. Lozowski’s boot slotted home the last-gasp conversion to take Sarries to a valuable 27-25 victory.

Over the years Saracens and Northampton Saints have enjoyed a great rivalry and this weekend is looking to be another great match up. With this game being the first of many Saracens vs. Saints games this season, it will be a great way for both sides to kick of their Aviva Premiership campaigns.
