Man Of The Match Farrell Excited To Be Back With Sarries
Fly half Owen Farrell put in a man of the match performance on his return to Allianz Park from Six Nations duty scoring 14 points, including a fine breakaway try during the second half, to help Saracens secure a 36-18 over top of the table rivals Exeter Chiefs.
It was not an easy afternoon in North London for kickers however as a strong wind blew through Allianz Park throughout the match. “It was tough” Farrell admitted. “It's one of the worst winds we've had here - and it's quite a windy place to play anyway. We dealt with it well, we had a good plan for it and really upped the physicality. The forwards took the ball forward and gave us a platform to play off."
Speaking on his return to club rugby Farrell said "Everyone [involved in the Six Nations] was excited to get back playing with the boys. Everyone was looking forward to this big game. The boys who have been away wanted to come back and add to the group”.
The fly-half also acknowledged the efforts of his team mates, who have steered Sarries through a tough group of fixtures during the international period. “This group has had dig in and had to front up recently and put in some hard yards. We wanted to come back and help push it on for the final stages of the season.”
