Mark McCall: "We Know What's Required"
Saracens Director of Rugby Mark McCall has said that his side will focus on producing their maximum performance as they prepare to face Northampton.
Sarries host Saints at Allianz Park on Saturday afternoon knowing that they need a bonus point win to keep hopes of qualification the Quarter Final stage of the competition they’ve won for the last two years.
McCall has spoken of the task at hand and says that Sarries can only perform to their maximum and hope that will see them through what will be a tricky game.
He explained: “All we can do is try and get as much out of the game as we can, Northampton have had a pretty good couple of weeks with playing fantastically well against Clermont last week and they’re definitely a team reborn with their confidence back.”
“We know what’s required but it’s never nice when things aren’t in your control, but what is in our control is Saturday and putting in a good performance, trying to maximise what we can get out of the game.”
The Men in Black are unbeaten since December 16th and have won three successive games against Premiership opposition but Northampton are a resurgent side, having won their first two games since former Sarries Director of Rugby Alan Gaffney took over.
His opposite number McCall also explained how the period has been similarly fruitful for the North Londoners: “We’ve had a decent period since the Clermont home game, which was obviously a tough time for us.
“We’ve had a lot of away games since then with Clermont, Leicester Tigers, Wasps and Ospreys, it was tough run that we had and I think that we can be proud of how we’ve responded to what happened that evening.
“This is the last game of the current block and it would be nice to sign off with a really strong performance that we’ve shown we’re capable of against Tigers and Wasps.”
