Match Day Festivals Round Off The Season With Champions Event On Sunday
Sunday morning saw Allianz Park’s 4G pitch play host to players from the U9 and U10 age groups who qualified for the Champions Event based on their performances during the Alan Day and Allianz festivals earlier this season.
The morning provided a platform for players to participate in a competitive, and yet friendly environment ahead, of the afternoon’s fixture against Newcastle Falcons in the Aviva Premiership. Over 500 juniors were able to develop their skills on the same pitch as the Aviva Premiership Champions ahead of the men in red and black taking to the field.
The festival provided memories for both the players and their supporters, as Phillip Burns, Maldon RFC Manager, explained: “Maldon had a great day out and all the coaches, players and parents enjoyed what was a brilliant, and well organised day”. Neil Cornick, Wendens Ambo RFC Manager, added “our guys loved every minute of the day. On behalf of Wendens Ambo Mini RFC I'd like to thank all the Saracens staff for putting on a really fun, well organised event.”
The half-time finals saw Medway U10s be crowned U10 Allianz Cup Champions, with Wendens Ambo winning the U10 Alan Day Champions Event. In the U9 Champions Festivals, Rosslyn Park claimed victory in the U9 Allianz Event, with Tabard winning the U9 Alan Day festival. Congratulations to all teams involved in the festival, where the standard on show both on and off the pitch contributed to what was a very successful 2015-16 season of grassroots rugby!
Sunday’s event draws the U9/10 Champions Event to a close for those teams involved during the 2015/16 season. Allianz Park has hosted over 1800 players from the U9 and U10 age groups, with 237 teams travelling to the Home of the Champions to battle it out on the 4G pitch!
The Saracens festivals team would like to thank all teams involved in both the Plate and Champions Event this year for what has been a fantastic season of junior rugby, and to thank all team managers, coaches and travelling family and friends for their help in putting together what has been a very successful season. The added cheer from the West Stand has been noticed by all here at Allianz Park, so thank you for your dedicated support throughout the year!
