Match Preview: Bath v Saracens

After a big opening weekend win at Twickenham Sarries head on the road for round two, travelling to the Rec to face Bath.

The Opposition

Bath kicked off their 17/18 campaign with an impressive win as they hung on to defeat Leicester Tigers at Welford Road. The West Country side also have an impressive record at home so far in 2017, their only loss has been against Wasps back in March, and claimed the victory over Saracens when the two sides met last season at the Rec.

One to watch – Taulupe Faletau

Fresh from an impressive Lions tour Faletau kicked off the new season in eye catching form, including making 20 tackles as Bath overcame Leicester Tigers, and is just one of a number of exciting back row options at Bath’s disposal this season. Keep an eye out too for the likes of Sam Underhill and Zach Mercer, both intriguing young prospects for Bath, and England, this season.

We said

“[Bath] are very physical in defence. As a pack of forwards, they lead from the front and we know what kind of challenge they pose to us. We have to stand up to that. They’ve always had good players on the ball, always been renowned for being good tacklers.” – Mako Vunipola

Referee: Wayne Barnes (186th Premiership game).

Assistant Referees: Adam Leal, Wayne Falla.

TMO: Keith Lewis.
