MATCH PREVIEW: Exeter Chiefs vs Saracens
Round 17 of the Aviva Premiership is set to be an exciting one as Saracens head to league leaders Exeter Chiefs looking to reclaim top spot.
Mark McCall’s side travel to Sandy Park in second place, four points behind the Devonshire outfit following last Sunday’s 20-28 defeat to Leicester Tigers – the Men in Black’s first league loss of 2018.
Exeter head into the contest buoyed by a last-gasp victory over Northampton Saints last time out which followed back-to-back losses in the league.
Sarries will be without 15-plus senior players due to international duty and injuries including back rowers Schalk Burger (broken rib), Callum Clark (broken arm), Joel Conlon (neck), Michael Rhodes (hamstring) and Billy Vunipola (broken arm).
Saracens’ depleted loose forward options led to the signing of Blair Cowan in midweek; the Scottish international takes a place on the bench with academy product Ben Earl in at seven.
Nick Isiekwe moves to blindside flanker to accommodate the returning George Kruis in Sarries’ only other change to the starting XV.
For Chiefs, Ben Moon and Tomas Francis come into the front row, while Dave Ewers is also restored.
Behind the Zimbabwe-born forward, Nick White, Joe Simmonds, Henry Slade and Phil Dollman all start.
Club captain Jack Yeandle is back as a replacement after an ankle injury, while England international Sam Simmonds is also included having recovered from a shoulder injury sustained in the Six Nations clash with Wales.
