Match Preview: Saracens v Bath
After a break for the Anglo-Welsh Cup the Aviva Premiership returns this weekend and with only five rounds left to play before the knock out rounds it’s all to play for as Saracens welcome Bath to Allianz Park this Sunday.
Bath have slipped to two consecutive defeats in the Aviva Premiership recently, coming up short against Bristol and Wasps. Despite this the West Country side sit fourth in the table, one place behind Saracens. Away from home Bath have struggled this season, their only away win in all competition since beating Exeter in October was a Challenge Cup trip to Bristol in January.
Last Time Out
Bath were victorious when the two sides met at the Rec back in round 10 of the competition, edging out a tight contest by 14 points to 11. Bath dominated in the first half but Saracens clung on to stay within touching distance in the second half. Sean Maitland crossed the whitewash for the visitors but a try from Max Clark and three penalties from Tom Homer gave Bath the win.
One to Watch - Kahn Fotuali'i
Fotuali’i’s move to Bath last summer has proved to be a real hit, both for player and for club. Not only has Fotuali’i’s excellent run of form showcased his own dynamic skill set but it has lifted Bath’s gameplay, helping to turn them back into top four challengers. An effective game manager Fotuali’i has controlled Bath’s game superbly this season, forming and effective partnership with fly half George Ford and cementing himself as a real fan favourite in the process.
