Match Preview: Saracens v Wasps
Round six is upon us with Saracens welcoming Wasps to Allianz Park this weekend.
Last year’s finalists Wasps will travel to Allianz Park this weekend off the back of three straight Aviva Premiership defeats. They have not loss four in a row since March 2014 and will be hoping to get their season back on track with a strong showing in north London. They last secured a win on Saracens soil in February 2016.
One to watch - Willie Le Roux
South African import Le Roux returns to the Wasps line up this weekend at fullback. The 27-year-old fullback has won 41 caps for South Africa and was a World Player of the Year nominee in 2014. Dangerous around the field he adds flair to an already classy Wasps backline.
Last time out
Sarries and Wasps last met on the last day of the 16/17 regular season. On that day Wasps came out on top, with two late tries helping them secure a 35-15 victory at the Ricoh. Sarries crossed for two of their own through Ben Spencer but three tries for Thomas Young plus scores from Wade and Daly earned Wasps the bonus point.
“They have a very dangerous back line if they have space. They can cut you apart in the blink of an eye. It is our job to prepare well, limit their space, and make the most of the opportunities that we can create. We are looking for a very physical, intense performance against a very good side.” – Jackson Wray
Thomas Young told the Wasps website: “We all know that Saracens are a good side…We want to keep hold of the ball, we have to make sure we do that again this weekend and hopefully turn our possession into points”
