MATCH PREVIEW: Saracens vs Worcester Warriors
Second placed Sarries host Worcester Warriors this weekend in round 12 of the Aviva Premiership.
Warriors are one of the Premiership’s form teams having most recently defeated London Irish 23-8 at Sixways. That completed a run of 17 points from their previous five Premiership matches. It is one of the richest runs in the competition and has seen Worcester pull away from the bottom. They have also beaten Northampton and Leicester in an encouraging run for the Midlands side.
Last time out
Sarries beat Worcester 25-3 at Sixways back in September, on that day a tight first half saw Worcester battle for supremacy and give the visitors. However, strong defence wore down injury-hit Warriors as tries from Alex Goode and Chris Wyles staved off the threat of the hosts.
“We’ve done some good things, shown a lot of fight and togetherness and are improving week-by-week; we know the team that we put out every week is good enough and have some good players coming back.” – Alex Goode
New Worcester Director of Rugby, Alan Solomons told the Warriors website: “It was a difficult start to the season with key players missing and some tough fixtures but we have seen progress in the past five Premiership games, picking up 17 points.”
Alex Goode is the Premiership’s leading ball carrier after 12 gruelling rounds of action. The full-back has made a total of 134 carries that have taken him over 1034 metres up pitches all over the country, how many will he add on Saturday afternoon?
