ABOUT WASPS

Wasps made it to the semi-finals of the Tyrrells Premier 15s last season, finishing third before losing to Harlequins, and look to be in contention for a play-off spot again.

Eight wins and four defeats from the opening 12 fixtures leaves them fourth, nine points behind third-placed Loughborough Lightning and six ahead of fifth-placed Gloucester-Hartpury.

They head into the home fixture against Saracens Women on the back of two victories, last weekend against rock-bottom Worcester Valkyries and the one before versus Firwood Waterloo.

One of Wasps’ four losses this season came against the Women in Black at Allianz Park in October, when tries from Lotte Clapp and Vicky Fleetwood set up a 21-5 win.

That result contributes to a poor record against the top teams, with the other defeats coming against Loughborough (twice) and Harlequins.

Watch out for scrum half and England international Claudia Macdonald, who scored a brace of tries last weekend, and former Saracens player Garnet McKinder on the right wing.
