Match report: Saracens Storm 49-22 Bath United
Saracens Storm proved too strong for Bath United as they ran out a 49-22 win against Bath United at Allianz Park in the Premiership Rugby Shield.
Saracens Storm got off to a fantastic start after five minutes as Tom Griffiths burst through the Bath United defence to score the first try of the game. Manu Vunipola successfully converted to make the opening score 7-0.
Bath responded quickly and setup an impressive try through a driving maul leaving Michael Van Vuuren to finish it off.
The next 10 minutes of the game consisted of kicking back and forth from both teams shifting quickly between defence and attack.
Sarries second try of the game came as Sione Vailanu dotted down under the posts after running an excellant line in midfield off a line-out.
In the 26th minute is was Bath’s turn as they burst into life and drove closer to the try line. Sarries could not keep them out and Bath’s hooker Van Vuuren got his second try of the game.
Storm’s defence created Sarries’ third try as Dom Morris finished off an intercept in midfield. Manu added the extras which left the score 21-10.
Saracens Storm finished the first half well as Anthony Maka punctured the Bath United defence and set up Vailanu for his second try of the game. Half-time score 28-10.
Bath started the second half with the majority of possession but it was Sarries who got the first try. Tom Woolstencroft went over after a superb multi-phase attack which started deep inside the home team’s half.
However, this was followed by back to back tries for the away team by Van Vuuren and Levi Davis which kept Bath in the game at 35-22.
Saracens Storm made sure of the result as both Elliot Obatoyinbo and Joe Gray went over to leave the final score 49-22.
