Match Report: Saracens Women 64 Firwood Waterloo Ladies 0

It proved to be a very successful return to Allianz Park for Saracens Women as they ran out 64-0 winners against Firwood Waterloo Ladies in the Tyrrells Premier 15s.

There was vocal home crowd support and they were treated to some fine rugby from the home team.

Saracens Women made a slow start however as with nine changes from last week’s win over Loughborough Lightning it took time for the team to gel.

Once they got into their stride though they made the most of their opportunities. Nina Vistisen finished off a powerful Sydney Gregson run before captain Lotte Clapp reacted the quickest to a high ball to run in under the sticks.

The captain turned provider for the next try as full-back Sarah McKenna finished off a strong break down the left wing.

Clapp continued to be heavily involved as she completed a first half hat-trick with two tries in the final minutes of the first half.

The home side had a 25-0 lead going into the second half but went hunting for more. Prop Hannah Duffy ran a lovely line in midfield to finish from over 20 metres out.

A seventh try followed not long after with Chantelle Miell, on at half-time for Clapp, going over in the corner. Saracens Women were now 35-0 up with half an hour to play and they made sure they used their time well.

The final 20 minutes saw the home team go well past 50 points as they added another five tries to their tally.

Sarah Bebbington went over from a powerful driving maul before Gregson dotted down from a kick ahead. Hannah Botterman took the score past the half-century while Chantelle Miell made it a brace as she finished off a fine move from the scrum.

Georgie Lingham had the last word though as the right winger went over from long range to bring the curtain down an exciting day of rugby.

There was also success for the Development Team as they ran out 62-0 winners over Firwood Waterloo Ladies to ensure that they’d finish top of the Tyrrells Premier 15s Development League.
