Saracens Storm bounced back from last weekend’s defeat at Bath with an emphatic 69-7 victory over Gloucester United at Allianz Park.
The Men in Black scored six unanswered first-half tries before crossing a further five times to the Cherry & Whites’ one in the second period.
Max Malins, who was successful with six conversions, set the tone early on, converting his own try following a superb turn of pace and Tom Whiteley added a second, showing off his speed.
Not looking to be outdone, winger Rotimi Segun finished off a mazy run through the heart of the Gloucester midfield before captain Whiteley sealed a bonus point with an effort which began inside his own 22.
Slick hands from the backs allowed Dom Morris to trot in for the hosts’ fifth and a penalty try late in the half saw Adam Powell’s side head into the break 36 points to the good.
Henry Taylor replaced Whiteley at half-time and the replacement scrum-half’s impact was immediate as he went over for his first of a busy afternoon.
The tries continued to come quickly with Ali Crossdale getting in on the action before United grabbed a consolation.
Segun, who returned from injury against Bath last Sunday, crossed for his second and Taylor jinked over twice towards the end to complete a fine hat-trick.
Next up for Storm, the visit of Bristol Bears ‘A’ on Sunday 30th December at Allianz Park.
