McCall pleased by second half of 2017/18
Mark McCall is pleased with how his team have performed in the second of the 2017/18 season.
Saracens have earned 32 points from their previous nine league games and have scored over 100 points in their last two outings.
The Men in Black lie second in the Aviva Premiership and need just one win from their last two fixtures to secure a home semi-final.
After disappointments in Clermont and against Leinster in the Champions Cup, Sarries’ response is something McCall is most happy about.
He said: “It seems ages ago since we were sat in the changing room at Clermont and we were in a bit of a hole. The group couldn’t have responded better to what happened that night.
“I think we’ve got 32 points from the last nine league games which is good given the Six Nations and the injury situation we had.
“I’ve also been pleased with how we responded to losing the Leinster game with a decent performance at Northampton and a good performance against Bath.” He continued: “It’s obviously an exciting time of year and we’re at the real business end now.
“We’ve got ourselves a ninth consecutive semi-final which is brilliant, and we’ve done well in terms of tries scored this year; we’re the top try scorers in the Premiership at this point, we’ve conceded the fewest, and we’ve got the biggest points difference, so we’ve done something right.
“We lost a couple of close games back in December but overall, I’m really pleased with how things have gone in the second half of the season.
“We’re in the semi-final, we’ve got a chance to secure a home semi-final in the next two games and hopefully have a healthy group to pick from.”
