McCall praises 'fantastic support'
Director of rugby Mark McCall praised Saracens’ fans for their support in Saturday’s 13-13 draw against Exeter Chiefs.
After losing prop Richard Barrington to a red card after 11 minutes Sarries battled from 10-0 down to draw the game. After the game, McCall paid tribute to the fans' role in helping the team at a sold-out Allianz Park.
“Since we moved to Allianz Park four years ago, that was best atmosphere we’ve played in at home. The fans really got behind the team and the place was rocking throughout the game - I think it played a huge part for us battling back to get the two points.”
McCall added: “We’re really grateful for the fantastic support. It’s been great playing in front of packed houses recently and the fans’ support is something that when we harness it, can drive on the team.”
Saracens captain Brad Barritt also paid tribute to Saracens fans: “Saturday’s atmosphere was unbelievable and I’d like to thank the Saracens fans on behalf of all the squad for their backing when we really needed it. The noise was the loudest we’ve experienced at Allianz Park and as a player, it can lift you.
“We’ve a tough run of games coming up and we’ll need that support once again on the road against Scarlets, and at home against Toulon.”
