Nathan Earle Ready for Rival Saints
Nathan Earle is eager to write the next chapter in Saracens' rivalry with the Northampton Saints.
Since 2010, Saracens have a slight edge over Northampton, having beaten them 12 times to the Saint’s 10, though the rivalry still resonates throughout north London.
Earle, who will start tomorrow’s game on the wing, said: “Obviously, the rivalry between the two clubs is well documented. There is no love lost.
“They will come and be unbelievably physical as a team. We know it’s going to be a test against such a good outfit.”
Tomorrow’s season opener (kick-off 14H00) sees Sarries return to Twickenham stadium, the scene of their 2014 Premiership final loss to Northampton.
Saracens have not lost at Twickenham since then, having won all of their last five fixtures at the home of rugby, and will be looking continue the streak in Saturday’s London Double Header.
Speaking about the significance of the event, Earle said: “Any opportunity you have to play at Twickenham you want to play because there is so much history on that pitch and you want to be part of that.”
Saracens will also be looking to see what their new signings can do against live Premiership competition for the first time tomorrow.
After scoring 30 tries in three preseason games, the Men in Black have come together well and Earle is confident about what he has seen so far.
He said: “They’ve put in a lot of hard work over the summer. So, everyone is just raring to go and can’t wait for the competition to start.
“It is great to have some of the new guys getting there first official Premiership caps this weekend and I think they are just as excited to get involved as the old lads are.”
