Preview: Gloucester-Hartpury Women (H)

Founded: 2014
Head Coach:  Susie Appleby
Last Season: 4th
Website: Gloucester-Hartpury Women

Gloucester-Hartpury will be brimming with confidence after running 11 tries past Worcester Valkyries in a 67-3 thrashing last weekend.

It was the first time this season they have recorded back-to-back wins, as victories over Firwood Waterloo and DMP Sharks have been interspersed with defeats to Harlequins, Bristol Bears and Loughborough Lightning.

While it is still early days, but Gloucester-Hartpury, who are a unified team of Gloucester Rugby and Hartpury College RFC, will be looking to improve on their current position of sixth in the league.

Last season they finished fourth, but could not cope with eventual champions Saracens in the semi-finals, losing both legs (0-62 in the first and 45-26 in the second).

Saracens should be wary of quick wing Kelly Smith, who scored three tries last weekend and who is one of three England internationals in Gloucester-Hartpury’s squad, along with Zoe Aldcroft and Tatyana Heard.

Sunday’s visitors brought in several new signings over the summer, including Wales international Dyddgu Hywel and Scotland international Katie Dougan.
