ABOUT THE VALKYRIES

The 2018/19 season has not proved any easier than the previous campaign for Worcester, who have reached the halfway point with just three points.

After finishing bottom of the Tyrrells Premier 15s last season with one draw and 17 defeats, Director of Rugby Roy Davies bolstered his squad with several internationals, including Lydia Thompson, who returned from England Sevens, and Red Roses prop Laura Keates who returned from a long injury lay-off.

However, they have been unable to turn the team’s fortunes around, and they currently find themselves six points adrift at the foot of the table having shipped 415 points while scoring 119.

Australia lock Bec Clough was a mid-season signing and made her debut against Firwood Waterloo last weekend, so she is one to watch, as is full-back Josie Symonds, who recently returned after almost two years out with an ankle injury.

Saracens Women put 43 points on Worcester in the return fixture in September, conceding seven.
