ABOUT THE VALKYRIES

The inaugural Tyrrells Premier 15s was a tough one for Worcester who failed to register a single win in 2017/18. The closest they came was a 12-12 draw at Firwood Waterloo Ladies – a match they almost lost but for a last-gasp conversion miss.

Those points were collected in the fourth month of the season but this time around, their first lot came in the opening round in form of a losing bonus point against Darlington Mowden Park.

A spirited and battling performance, however that maiden victory in the competition remains elusive.

Director of Rugby Roy Davies enhanced his squad during the off-season with a number of internationals to try and boost their league fortunes including winger Lydia Thompson, returning after time with England Women Sevens.

New Zealand rugby league international Lisa Campbell is back in the Valkyries mix after taking a season off due to work commitments. As a former club captain, she brings strong leadership and England tighthead prop Laura Keates is fit-again after a season-long injury.
