Returnee Farrell delighted with Toulon 'scalp'
Owen Farrell returned to the Saracens line-up in some style as the England international was named Man of the Match in his side’s 31-23 win over Toulon.
Farrell, who kicked 16 points in the game, was making his first appearance of the season after recovering from a back and hip problem that has sidelined the 25-year old for the Sarries first six Aviva Premiership games.
The Saracens fly-half was keen to praise a team effort after the game, despite his impressive return to action =.
"It was a great effort to come to a place like this and get a result is a massive scalp," he said.
"But there are still things to work on, our discipline was not great in the second half and I am sure we will look at that. I was a bit stiff coming towards the end of the game. I was ready for that, I was itching to be back out there."
“It's remarkable, to play the way he played," said Saracens director of rugby McCall. "There was a passage in the second half that lasted for ever, we cleared and Owen was one of two people that made the tackle on [Mathieu] Basteraud and it was incredible he had the stamina and fight to do that.”
