Saracens duo up for Player of the Month award
Saracens duo Owen Farrell and Maro Itoje have been shortlisted for the Aviva Premiership player of the month award for November.
The pair have both been in fine fettle so far this campaign, with No10 Owen Farrell and lock forward Maro Itoje playing a key role in their side’s unbeaten start to the 2015/16 season.
Fly-half Owen Farrell has been scintillating form. The England playmaker has flourished in the Sarries No10 jersey and has produced some fine displays in the Premiership Champions away win at Northampton Saints. In Europe, Farrell orchestrated a fine wins against European giants Toulouse at Allianz Park and a week later in Belfast against Ulster at the Kingspan Stadium.
After a breakthrough year that saw the lock forward or back rower included in England’s World Cup training camp, Maro Itoje’s star has continued to rise. Having turned 21 in late October, Itoje has underlined his credentials as one of the games brightest talents with dominant displays in both domestic and European competitions and was recently awarded Man of the Match in Saracens’ 48-18 win over Worcester Warriors at Twickenham.
Farrell and Itoje are up against Wasps’ pair Nathan Hughes and Charle Piutau for the award.
