Saracens International Round-Up
It was another bumper weekend of international action for Saracens players, with seven players involved in the Six Nations and U20 Six Nations.
The big news of the weekend was in Cardiff as Saracens trio Owen Farrell, Maro Itoje and Jamie George helped England to an important 21-16 away win at the Principality Stadium. Wasps utility back Elliot Daly scored the match winning try collecting a wonderful on the move pass from Farrell the dying minutes of an absorbing contest to clinch the win.
With five minutes left on the clock, a wayward kick from Wales centre Jonathan Davies failed to find touch, England countered and a wonderful pass from Farrell found Daly who finished with aplomb in the corner after outpacing the desperate Alex Cuthbert to score. Wales edged in front earlier in the contest when future Sarrie Liam Williams showed English rugby fans a glimpse of what they can expect when he arrives at Allianz Park later this year with a well-taken try.
On Sunday afternoon, Saracens wing Sean Maitland produced another strong performance for Scotland as they faced France in the Stade de France. The French included another future Saracens player, Christopher Tolofua, on the bench and it was Les Blues who would come away with the spoils in an entertaining afternoon of rugby.
On Friday evening, academy flanker Ben Earl skippered England U20 to hard-faught 37-21 win over Wales in Colwyn Bay. Earl was joined by fellow academy players Nick Isiekwe and Dom Morris in the win.
