Saracens Sport Foundation Take Over Allianz Park!
As Saracens take on Gloucester at Allianz Park this Saturday, 5th May, Saracens Sport Foundation take over Allianz Park for our annual Foundation Match Day!
Last year’s Foundation Match Day raised a record breaking £27,000 and this year we have set our sights on smashing that target! We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to create a fun-packed day filled with activations and competitions running throughout the stadium. There’s something for everyone to get involved in, including the chance to go head-to-head with two Saracens players in our Average Joe vs. Pro Cycle Challenge – check out the players’ attempts here and get practising!
We’ve secured some fantastic prizes to be won in our raffle too… but you’ve got to be in it to win it! So, if you fancy your chances at winning a two-night trip to New York, including flights and a stay in a 4-star hotel bring cash to buy your raffle tickets! You can view our full list of prizes here. With so much fun going on all around the stadium, we’ve also put together a 'What’s On” guide to the day – click here for a copy or look out for posters around the stadium.
Foundation Match Day is truly vital in enabling Saracens Sport Foundation to continue the life-changing programmes we deliver across Hertfordshire and North London. Just one example of this is when Strictly Sarrie’s funding ended in December 2017, we knew we needed to find a way to keep this disABILITY dance provision running… the participants had gained so much through the programme that we wanted to give them more opportunities to perform and grow in confidence. Last year’s Match Day has allowed us to not only continue to run Strictly Sarrie on a weekly basis, but we were also able to offer the group the opportunity to perform at London Stadium at the Saracens v Harlequins game - an experience they would have missed out on if the programme had to stop. You will also be treated to a performance by the amazing Strictly Sarrie’s group at half time this Saturday, alongside our Love to Dance participants. We hope you enjoy it as much as they do!
The money you donate has a major impact on the lives of our beneficiaries and their families. Robbie, a young man with sever autism who attends two of our disABILITY clubs and has recently completed the London marathon, ran the final10 miles completely by himself, a feat that his dad, David, never anticipated he could do. Read Robbie’s inspirational story here.
We have big plans for this year too and your donations will mean we will be able to increase our reach in the local community and offer even more programmes to even more of the community. We are really excited to be launching our very first wheelchair rugby programme in September 2018 and £2,500 would allow us to purchase one specialised wheelchair for a participant to take part.
We are looking forward to welcoming many of you to Foundation Match Day on Saturday but even if you can’t make it to Allianz Park, keep an eye on our social media channels where we will be posting regular updates, photos and the winners of our raffle prizes!
