Saracens supports Restart Rugby Weekend 2018
We are proud to announce that our game this weekend against Bath Rugby will be dedicated to Restart Rugby – the charity which supports professional players suffering from serious injury, illness or hardship.
Together with all Premiership Rugby Clubs, we’re aiming to help raise £10,000 to support players such as former Saracens player Alex Bennett who in 2012 suffered a serious neck injury resulting in emergency spinal surgery.
“I woke up from surgery ventilated, hallucinating and not able to move a thing. My immediate focus was on trying to breathe again as opposed to walk again. It was pretty dark.” - Alex Bennett
Restart Rugby supported Alex extensively following his accident, helping with the costs of his physiotherapy. After an initial period of total paralysis, Alex has made a remarkable recovery, learning to walk again.
