Saracens to face Glasgow in Champions Cup QF

Defending champions Saracens will face Glasgow Warriors at home in the quarter final stages of the European Rugby Champions Cup on the weekend of April 1/2 (date and kick-off times to be confirmed by EPCR).

Saracens have qualified for the last eight of European Rugby's premier club competition for a sixth successive season after topping Pool 3 remaining unbeaten throughout the pool stages.

Reacting to the draw, Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall said: “Glasgow Warriors are a team we have a huge respect for. Under Gregor Townsend they have been building as a side and growing to this point as a squad and in this year's competition they have produced some fantastic performances against Racing 92 and Leicester Tigers, two sides who have real European pedigree.

"There's a really positive energy in their squad and they have a team packed full of internationals so it'll be a huge test for us but one that we're looking forward to."

Saracens can confirm that they are seeking permission to stage the game at Allianz Park, with the capacity of the ground being temporarily increased to 15,000.

"We'd be delighted to play the game at home" said McCall. "In our experience, European quarter-finals are always tight and testing occasions so to have our home support behind us is a real positive. Our fans have really rallied behind the team this season when we've needed their support and I'm sure that they'll be looking forward to this game as much as we are."
