Saracens v Wasps Match Preview
Wasps will visit Allianz Park on Sunday for only the second time since Saracens moved to North London. Since that last visit back in October Saracens have defeated Wasps at Adams Park, Twickenham Stadium and most recently at the Ricoh Area where 21 points from Owen Farrell plus a Duncan Taylor try sealed the victory.
The Wasps side that will arrive at Allianz Park on Sunday have been little affected by the International window and will be boosted by the return of Elliot Daly after his release from England camp this week.
Wasps are a dominant attacking force in the Premiership. In addition to Daly, talent such as Christian Wade, Charles Piutau and Frank Halai have ensured Wasps possess one of the most dynamic backlines in the Aviva Premiership. Try scoring has become commonplace for them and last Sunday’s 9-8 victory over Newcastle was the first time in four years that Wasps have won a game without crossing the whitewash.
Despite only recording one loss so far this season Saracens have trailed at half time in their last two fixtures, before staging impressive comebacks to defeat both Bath and Exeter. These performances have been key in maintaining Saracens’ position at the top of the table and the qualities shown are likely to be needed again as the North Londoners move through what is a challenging block of fixtures.
Saracens have won their last nine encounters with Wasps in all tournaments since Wasps’ 20-15 victory at Twickenham in the 2011 London Double Header but a battle is expected out on the Allianz Park turf this Sunday. The fans' support will be key – make sure you’re there to be part of it.
