Saracens Women name Cup semi final squad vs Wasps

Saracens Women have named their team to travel to Wasps Ladies in the semi final of the Senior Cup on Sunday, kick-off 13h00.

The two sides are no strangers having met each other twice already this season in the Premiership with Saracens coming away with wins in both matches. Wasps come into the fixture having not dropped a game in the Cup pool stages and finished top of their group so confidence will be high. A London derby with a place in the Cup final also at stake sets it up to be a thrilling afternoon of rugby.

Saracens are bolstered by the return of scrum half Georgie Gulliver as she makes her first start of the campaign following a lengthy injury lay off. The experienced number nine came off the bench in Saracens final group stage match against Waterloo, making an instant impact as she crossed the whitewash and set up another. Zoe Harrison will link up with Gulliver at fly half.

There are changes in the Sarries midfield as Seraphine Okemba moves to inside centre whilst Nina Vistisen continues at outside centre. Lauren Newman lines up on one wing with England U20 Emma Uren on the opposite wing. Eloise Bloomfield wears the fullback jersey.

Sonia Green wears the captain’s armband from blindside flanker and is joined in the back row by Becky Roby at openside flanker and Rosie Galligan at No.8. Ellie Gattlin and Charlotte Hamlyn Williams form up in the second row. In the front row hooker Kat Evans is flanked by El Perry at loosehead prop and Geri Thomas at tighthead prop.

There’s a mix of youth and experience amongst the replacements with prop Kerrie-Ann Craddock returning from injury and Jen Hobson awarded her first call up to the side.

Speaking ahead of the match, Rob Cain said: “The players have been working really hard this past month and our inner competition has risen to another level. Wasps are a dangerous team with momentum and we are all aware of the problems that they can cause teams through their set piece and aggressive ball carriers.  We aren't looking past this game and our attention is on making sure we get the little things accomplished to allow us to reach the performance that we all want and need against Wasps on Sunday.”
