Saracens Women name Cup side to face Worcester

Saracens Women have named their team to face Worcester Valkyries in round one of the Senior Cup at Allianz Park on Sunday, kick-off 14h00.

Prop Karlee Walters will be one of six season debutants named in Rob Cain’s match day squad. The Canadian will run out for her first Saracens appearance this season alongside debutant hooker Oren Blindell and loosehead Kerrie-Ann Craddock in the Saracens front-row.

Captain Sonia Green moves from her usual No8 position into second row alongside Scotland’s Anna Stodter. In the back row, Lauren Newman continues at openside flanker alongside Becky Roby (blindside flanker) and No8 Bryony Cleall.

In the halves, April Brown continues in the nine jersey resuming her partnership with Zoe Harrison at flyhalf. In the centres, the experienced Charlotte Barras teams up with Nina Vistisen.

Emma Uren makes her first club appearance from the wing, partnering up with top try scorer Garnet Mackinder and Georgia Peedle at fullback to complete the back three.

Speaking ahead of the match, Rob Cain said: “I’m really excited to get our cup campaign under way. Everyone has been working hard and we’re refocused and re-energised for Worcester at home this weekend. The cup is a big opportunity for players to taste first team rugby for the first time and to grab hold of a starting jersey. It also allows new combinations to settle before we go back into the league. We have concentrated on a few areas of our game that we felt were holding us back and I’m really excited to see the players show all that hard work with their performance come Sunday.”
