Saracens Women name Premiership semi final squad

Saracens Women have named their team to travel to Bristol Ladies in the semi final of the Women’s Premiership on Sunday, kick-off 14h45.

In the pack, Geri Thomas (tighthead prop) and Vicky Fleetwood (hooker) start in the front-row alongside Jeanine Vinueza Yoyola who returns to the side at loosehead.

Lock forward Ellie Gattlin packs down alongside Charlotte Hamlyn Williams in the second row. Bryony Cleall returns from injury to start at No8 and is joined in the back row by Rosie Galligan at blindside flanker and Lauren Newman at openside flanker.

In the halves, Georgie Gulliver captains the side from scrum-half with the experienced April Brown starting at fly-half.

In the centres, leading Premiership points scorer Zoe Harrison is named at inside centre with Nina Vistisen at outside centre. In the back-three Lotte Clapp returns from England Sevens duty to start at fullback, with Garnet Mackinder on the left-wing and Seraphine Okemba named on the opposite flank.

Speaking ahead of the match, head coach Rob Cain said: “It’s been a great few weeks leading up to this and everyone has been really relaxed and enjoying the whole experience so far. Bristol have been the most dominant team in the competition and finishing top of the league before the play offs reflects how good they have been. With that can bring a lot of pressure and having a home semi final adds even more pressure to perform. Everyone deals with pressure differently.  Each game since October has had to be a must win game for us to reach the playoffs with lots of pressure attached and this weekend everyone gets to enjoy all their previous hard work. Being underdogs is a tag we have experienced all season and going away from home to get a must win in important games is not new to us and is a challenge that everyone has embraced as we have grown as a team through the season. We are still striving for our complete performance and will be hoping for this to come on Sunday.”
