Saracens Women name side for top of table clash

Saracens Women Women have named their side to face Harlequins Ladies at Allianz Park on Saturday for round eighteen of the Tyrrells Premier 15s, kick off 17h00.

It’s tight at the top of the table with Sarries on 72 points and Quins trailing on 71 but a win for Rob Cain’s side tomorrow would guarantee them a first place finish heading into the play offs, with a game in hand still to come against Bristol Ladies on Good Friday.

Sarries welcome back England international Poppy Cleall who slots in at No.8 alongside sister Bryony, and Kat Evans in the back row. Dutch international Tessa Wijmans comes in at lock alongside Sonia Green and up front, England U20s props El Perry and Hannah Botterman start with May Campbell at hooker.

Lotte Clapp continues to captain from the wing accompanied by Emma Uren on the opposite flank and Lauren Cattell who shifts to full back. Helena Rowland and Cara Wardle make up the centre partnership and Georgie Gulliver and Zoe Harrison are named as the half back pairing.

There’s also fire power amongst the replacements as flanker Marlie Packer returns to the squad after the Six Nations.

Speaking ahead of the match, head coach Rob Cain said: “It’s great to back after a short break and for the players to be able to fully focus on the run in to play offs after time away on international duty.  We know the physical threats Quins have both in terms of their collision winners and ability to hit width through hand speed. Whoever can dictate terms at both the set piece and breakdown will have a big say in the final outcome..
