Saracens Women name squad to face Worcester Valkyries

Saracens Women have named their side to face Worcester Valkyries at Sixways Stadium on Saturday for the third round of the Tyrrells Premier 15s, kick off 14h00.

New international signings Poppy Cleall and Marlie Packer make their Premier 15s debuts in an exciting new look Sarries backrow. Blindside flanker Poppy will team up with her identical twin sister Bryony who packs down at no.8.

Hannah Botterman has been promoted from the bench to start at tighthead prop after making a big impact in the opening two rounds. She’s joined in the front row by Loz Salisbury at loosehead prop and Kat Evans at hooker.

Sonia Green moves into the second row to partner Italian international Valeria Fedrighi who made her debut last weekend against Loughborough Lightning.

At half-back, Georgie Gulliver continues at scrum-half, with Zoe Harrison retaining her fly-half jersey.

Head coach Rob Cain has made changes in the backline with eighteen year old Helena Rowland moving to outside centre alongside Nina Vistisen in the midfield.

The back three of Rowan White at full back, captain Lotte Clapp and Garnet Mackinder all scored last week and will be looking for more of the same this time out.

Speaking ahead of the match, head coach Rob Cain said:  "It's been a really positive training week. Lots of things we aimed to do last week materialised and the challenge this week is to continue to hit our targets again whilst under pressure - playing with the same intent and tempo for larger periods of time.

“Our inner competition has shown itself again and we are testing out our third back row, second row and centre combinations in as many weeks. It's great to for Poppy and Marlie to make their debuts and for Seraphine to return to us to make an impact off the bench.

“Worcester have an effective set piece and have showed in recent weeks that they are very good at capitalising on mistakes when opposition are not being effective in the tackle area.”
