Sarries U18 beat Wasps to come third on Finals Day

Kapeli Pifeleti scored twice as Saracens edged out Wasps 21-19 at Allianz Park to seal third place on Premiership Rugby Under-18s Academy Finals Day.

Wasps got the first score of the contest with Alfie Barbeary dotting down following a successful driving maul which started outside Sarries’ 22.

The Men in Black responded well and a neat move down the right flank led to Jamie Hoyes running under the posts, with Manu Vunipola adding the extras.

Mike Hynard’s side defended well and kept Wasps at bay before Pifeleti exploited a pocket of space to crash over to make it 14-5 at the break.

England Under-18 hooker Pifeleti showed off his power shortly after the interval to put Sarries into a commanding lead but Wasps hit back almost immediately through a Sam Spink try.

With 11 minutes remaining, Barbeary notched his second try of the game and Charlie Atkinson’s conversion brought Wasps to within two points.

During a tense finish to the game, Sarries were made to battle hard to hold on to their lead but remained solid to secure victory.
