School of Cheer Summer Term Highlights
It has been busy final few weeks before the end of term for the Saracens Sport Foundation Cheerleading programme!
Our final School festival was a huge success with great performances from our secondary school division alongside our primary infant and junior divisions performing their routines to proud family and friends. Congratulations to Simon Balle & Foulds for their 1st place winning routines filled with exciting tumbling and daring stunt sections. This terms festival also included prize winning competitions of Best toe touch jump, most impressive tumble pass and longest held stunt. The determination of some of our young athletes was beyond belief! The increase in ability and difficulty of skills shown in each school’s routine has grown from strength to strength each term with the standard becoming higher and higher!
For the first time, over 100 of our Saracens School of Cheer and Saracens Elite athletes gathered together here at the stadium for their End of Season Awards Ball. A celebration of all athlete’s individual and team achievements for their family and friends to see. The night was an enormous success with lots of awards, certificates and special prizes being received and a final chance to thank all athletes, families, coaches and supporters of Saracens Cheerleading leading into the 2017/2018 season. This was followed by some great dance moves at the disco to round off the night!
Finally, in completion of our fantastic 2016/2017 season, we held our season two team placement trials for our competitive Cheerleading programme, Saracens Elite. With the success of our 2016/2017 season team achieving a 5th, 2nd and 1st place at both regional and national competitions we received unexpected levels of athletes hoping to achieve a place on our Senior Level One team for the upcoming season. With the inspiration of our senior athletes, our younger youth athletes have stepped up their game and allowed us to create our first Youth Level one team made up of 16 athletes from the ages of 7 to 11 years old. For the 2017/2018 season we now have two exciting teams with over 35 competitive athletes ready to be better than ever!
