Seven Sarries Women named in England squad
Seven Saracens Women have been named in the England squad for next month’s Quilter Internationals.
Hannah Botterman, Poppy Cleall, Vicky Fleetwood, Zoe Harrison, Sarah McKenna, Marlie Packer and Elle Perry were all part of an England training camp earlier this month, and made the final squad of 28 to face the USA, Canada and Ireland.
Botterman, Harrison and Perry will be looking for their first senior caps, while Fleetwood and McKenna are set to make their first international 15-a-side appearances since the 2017 Women’s Rugby World Cup, having spent last season in the England Sevens set-up.
Red Roses head coach Simon Middleton said: “As a group, we are really looking forward to getting the Quilter Internationals under way and performing to our maximum. The challenge and opportunity is there for individuals to stake their claim.
“We have made a number of changes within the squad, with 12 new faces named since the 2018 Six Nations. While there is a great feel of youthfulness, with seven players fresh from the Under 20s summer tour, we have critically been able to retain a number of world class performers from the 2017 Women’s Rugby World Cup, ensuring an essential balance of quality, youth and experience.”
England Women open their campaign against USA at Allianz Park on Friday 9th November (click here for ticket info), before facing Canada at Castle Park in Doncaster on Sunday 18th November and Ireland at Twickenham on Sunday 24th November.
