Six Nations Round-Up: Grand Slam weekend for Saracens players
It proved to be a Grand Slam weekend for Saracens players in the Men’s and Women’s Six Nations on Saturday 16 March.
Liam Williams was part of dominant Welsh performance in Cardiff as they beat defending champions Ireland 25 – 7 at the Millenium Stadium.
Poppy Cleall got two tries as England Women beat Scotland 80 – 0 at Twickenham to secure the Grand Slam.
Hannah Botterman, Vicky Fleetwood, Zoe Harrison and Sarah McKenna were also in the starting line-up, while Marlie Packer came off the bench as England finished the Six Nations with a full 28 points.
Jodie Rettie came off the bench for Scotland in the second half, her fifth appearance of the tournament.
In total, eight Saracens Women played for England throughout the tournament with Bryony Cleall and Rosie Galligan both featuring in the early rounds.
Six Saracens Men featured in the epic 38 – 38 draw between England and Scotland at Twickenham.
Owen Farrell, Jamie George, George Kruis and Billy Vunipola all started for England while Sean Maitland lined-up at fullback for Scotland.
Farrell landed four conversions and a penalty in the first half as England went out to a 31 – 7 lead before Scotland came back in the second 40 to lead 38 – 31, with Sean Maitland playing his part in two tries for the visitors.
