Sports Foundation To Showcase Get Onside Project In Wasps Curtain Raiser
Prior to the main event between Saracens and Wasps on Sunday the Saracens Sports Foundation will be showcasing their Get Onside programme which works with young offenders in Feltham prison through a curtain raiser fixture.
Get Onside program is a personal and social development program which works to rehabilitate young offenders within Feltham. The program boasts a very successful rate of keeping ex-offenders away from re-offending. Currently 90% of our 100 participants over the four years we have run the programme are in full time employment or education, this is measured against a national statistic of 70% of young offenders re-offending within 12 months of release.
The program recently won the All Parliamentary Breakthru award which recognises the successes of inspiring communities through social change. During the Get Onside course participants focus on elements such as discipline, work rate, humility, honesty, behaviour management, respect, employability skills, professional standards and mentorship, all accredited by ASDAN.
The ‘Mean Machine’ curtain raiser match is aimed at celebrating the successes of the course and at showcasing the wonderful partnership between Feltham YOI and the Saracens Sport Foundation Rugby has inspired many of our participants and we are delighted to welcome many of them back on Sunday to play on either the Foundation or Screws team.
