Team News: Harlequins Ladies vs Saracens Women

Hannah Botterman returns to the starting line-up to face Harlequins Ladies on Saturday after coming through last weekend unscathed following a shoulder injury.

The England international came off the bench in the second half of last weekend’s defeat of Wasps, and replaces Hannah Duffy in the starting XV for the clash at the Twickenham Stoop.

Head coach Alex Austerberry has made three other changes to his team with May Campbell replacing Jodie Rettie, who is away on international duty with Scotland, Bryony Cleall coming in for Elle Perry and Cara Wardle replacing Nina Vistisen, who has a hamstring problem. Lauren Newman also replaces Harriet Austin on the bench.

In what will be a repeat of last season’s Tyrrell’s Premier 15s final, Austerberry is expecting a stern challenge from Saracens’ London rivals.

“It’ll be a great test and a really tough battle,” he said. “Harlequins are one of the best sides in the country and it’s a great opportunity to lock horns again.

“We love playing at home in front of our fans, but to go away and play at the Stoop with a typically hostile crowd is something we embrace. It adds to the challenge, adds to the occasion and the players always rise to the challenge.”

Saracens will attempt to maintain their 100% record this season, having won five from five, but Austerberry is still looking for improvement.

“Last week against Wasps, our defensive effort was great, and when we clicked in attack we looked dangerous, but there is plenty of room for improvement,” he said.

“We need to be far more clinical this week, and we can’t afford to waste as many chances - we’ll be punished otherwise.

“Quins are a well-coached side so we know we’re in for a tough test and we will need to take our chances.”
